A River Runs Through It

Duck River

Considered to be North America’s richest river with a variety of freshwater animals, the Duck River speaks to those who love the outdoors. Stretching 284 miles in length, it provides a myriad of activities such as canoeing, kayaking and more.


Piney River

With a cool swimming hole and scenic campground, Piney River has the makings of a fun-filled afternoon in the outdoors. 


Swan Creek

As a tributary of the Duck River, Swan Creek adds historical value to the Hickman community.

The Square

The Square, located at the most central part of town, is where everything happens. Festivals, parades and other events often take place here for everyone to enjoy.


Arts & Ag Tour

This tradition takes place every year over Memorial Day weekend. A two-day self-guided tour of farms on the back roads of Hickman County gives you a glimpse into what our town is all about. 


Halloween Parade

With over 35 floats featured, the town of Hickman County comes together on the square to have our annual Halloween Parade. Flashing lights, scary costumes, and candy galore, this is sure to be the most frightening fun you’ll have all year. 


Motorcycle Poker Run

Hosted by Sloan’s Motorcycle & ATV, Hickman County takes part in a day-long event that is fun for both participants and viewers. With the Motorcycle Poker Run, you get the chance to ride through our beautiful, rural area and try your luck at a poker game.

Outdoor Activities

Natchez Trace Parkway

This parkway is one of America's National Scenic Byways. You can bike or drive down the 444-mile-long road that dates back to the early 1700's. It is also the perfect safe, shady spot for motorcyclists. 


Cave Branch

One of the cave systems in Centerville, Cave Branch is a stream with a large cave located at the mouth. 

Entertainment

Grinder’s Switch Radio Hour

An example of the rich musical history of the region, Grinder’s Switch Radio Hour is internationally known. This weekly music variety show showcases both local and regional talent. Minnie Pearl, known for country comedy, claimed the town of Grinder’s Switch to be her home in her comedy acts.


Grinder’s Switch Winery

This winery has been producing award-winning wines for nearly a decade. A hand-built log cabin in the middle of the rolling countryside is the ideal setting for you to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. 


John Gordon House

Built in 1818, the John Gordon House was a landmark for travelers of the Old Trace assuring them they would soon be in Nashville. It was a home and business as the Gordons offered travelers and locals a place to sleep and a safe way to cross the Duck River. 


Storytellers Museum

This museum is tucked away in a general store that Johnny Cash once used as a venue for local concerts. The Cash family has invested in this museum as Cindy Cash has helped curators make this an unforgettable experience. 


Clay Harris Theatre

This theatre includes productions directed by Clay Harris himself. He is dedicated to the world of theatre and his talent has taken him to New York's off-Broadway and London's West Riding.
